Each Green Kid Crafts Discovery Box is created by parents, reviewed by our Panel of Experts, and tested by kids to make sure that each Discovery Box is universally appealing to both boys and girls. You don't have to take our word for it though. Check out our Kudos page and see real family experiences on our Pinterest Reviews board. What will my kids learn with their Discovery Box? Every Discovery Box is designed by our experts to encourage children's healthy development and learning (although they'll be having so much fun, they'll have no idea how hard they're working!). This is part of our Healthy & Happy Child Commitment. What age range is the Green Kid Crafts craft box appropriate for? Kids from 3-8 love our Discovery Boxes! We provide open-ended instructions that are intended as a jumping off point for kids to encourage their creativity and ensure that small kids can practice basic crafting skills while older kids can get more sophisticated with their projects. What types of materials do you use, and where do they come from? Some of our favorite green materials include recycled felt, recycled paper, and recycled ribbon. We also love to include natural materials like wool, yarn, colored sand, clay, canvas, noodles, cruelty-free feathers, shells, jute twine, cotton fabrics, and wood. We always avoid craft foams and plastics. We source project materials and packaging supplies from reputable, earth friendly companies that have a green standard. We also acquire materials from local businesses, accepting donated items from them that would otherwise go into the landfill, like scrap fabrics and felts. We do our best to find the most sustainable components available, however in rare occasions we need to use non-toxic, conventional materials because there are no other viable options. Another area that we are hoping to explore more in 2013 is upcycling. By partnering with some of our favorite companies, we're hoping to use scrap packaging and other safe materials for crafts that would otherwise end up in landfills. We hope that by being honest about the challenges that we face we will encourage craft suppliers to make positive changes. And, as we grow, we intend to use our buying power to continue supporting companies that are already providing green materials, and to accelerate change within those that do not. Please let us know if there was a problem with your Discovery Box by emailing us at care@greenkidcrafts.com. top Subscription Program How does a monthly Green Kid Crafts subscription work? Just sign up for a monthly subscription and a box full of fun will arrive at your door each month. You will be billed at the same time each month and can cancel at any time. Learn more about How It Works. What's included in a Green Kid Crafts Gift subscription? First, you’ll choose the length of subscription you wish to gift – 3, 6, or 12 months – and you are given the option to add double the crafts for a sibling that resides at the same location. When you check out you should put the recipients address in the Shipping address fields. There's also a special comments box if you would like to send a special note. When can I expect my first craft box? We ship during the first week of every month with an estimated 5-10 business days for delivery. Our cut-off day for orders is the 1st of the month. For example, if you sign up on August 30, your first craft box will ship out by August 7th. If you sign up after August 1, your first box will ship between Sept. 5-7. What happens at the end of my annual or 3, 6, or 12 month gift subscription? At the end of your subscription, you will be sent an email and a note in your last Discovery Box to remind you to renew your subscription. top Ordering Where does Green Kid Crafts ship and what is the cost? Shipping is free within the United States, including Hawaii, Alaska and APO addresses. We also ship to Canada for an additional $8/month. If you live outside the US and Canada and are interested in our service, please fill out this quick form so that we can notify you as soon as Green Kid Crafts is available in your area. How do I order craft projects for siblings? Have more than a single child home? Green Kid Crafts has many different options for accommodating siblings. Your options are: - Share a single Discovery Box: We provide a lot of materials for one child - many of our projects, but not all, can accommodate two children.
- Choose to add extra crafts for siblings: We’ll include another complete set of 3 crafts for each sibling at just $10 a month more. This is available with both our monthly and gift subscriptions.
- Choose to order an additional Discovery Box Subscription. This way, each child gets their own box in the mail! What kid doesn’t love getting mail?
Can I place an order by phone? Yes! Please call Green Kid Crafts at 619-450-1711 during business hours to order by phone (10 am - 5 pm PST M-F). When will my credit card be charged? When you sign up for the monthly membership, you will be billed for your first Discovery Box immediately. After that, you will be billed up to 16 days before your ship date. We are sorry, but we cannot process returns after your credit card has been charged for the upcoming month's Discovery Box. Can I change my billing and shipping address? Absolutely! Please email care@greenkidcrafts.com or call us at 619-450-1711 and we will assist you. Make sure to change your address by the 1st of the month to ensure you don’t miss a Discovery Box. How do I know that my personal information and that of my child is secure? Being moms ourselves, safety is our first priority! Shopping online at greenkidcrafts.com is completely safe. We use Volusion SSL encryption, which secures your private information. Information exchanged with any web address beginning with "https" is encrypted using SSL technology before it is transmitted over the Internet. And of course, we never (ever, ever) would sell, share or spam! How can I cancel my subscription? If for any reason you change your mind about a Green Kid Crafts membership, you can cancel your membership. Cancelling your monthly membership is hassle free! Just email us at care@greenkidcrafts.com. Cancellations need to happen after you receive your first box. Please cancel before the 1st of each month to avoid getting charged for the next month's Discovery Box. We are sorry, but if you miss cancelling before this date, we will not be able to process a return but will cancel your membership for the next month. We do not offer a return on gift memberships. Do you accept returns? Our Discovery Boxes are not returnable. However, if any materials included in your box are damaged or defective, email us at care@greenkidcrafts.com and we will be happy to replace those items for you in a flash! What happens if the shipment is undeliverable to the address I provided? Unfortunately we cannot be held responsible for addresses that are submitted incorrectly. Please be sure your shipping address is correct prior to placing an order. If you are sending a gift and don't have the recipient's address, a Gift Certificate is a perfect solution. (See below for more details on Gift Certificates.) Green Kid Crafts ships via the United States Postal Service. top Gift Certificates and Special Program Vouchers How can I purchase a general use Gift Certificate? If you don't have a recipients physical address, send them a Gift Certificate. With our Gift Certificates the recipient can then use the amount purchased towards a subscription, special craft kits or our Party Pleasers craft kit sets. Best of all they can be delivered by email or you can print it off directly from your computer. Purchase gift certificates here. I received a Gift Certificate, how do I redeem it? Limitations on our shopping cart require that customers are logged in in order to redeem a gift certificate. So, to redeem a gift certificate, you will first need to setup an account. Once your account is setup, shop as you normally would and then click "Checkout" or "View Cart" from the footer. Review the details of your order and then checkout as a "Returning Customer". On the shopping cart page, enter your email address and password and click "Login & Checkout." You will then be taken to the Checkout page where you will see a link on the left hand side, in the blue box, allowing you to "Apply a Gift Certificate." I received a Gift Certificate from the Stonyfield Rewards program, how do I redeem it?
