About Green Kid Crafts
Green Kid Crafts launched in 2010 with the vision of helping to raise the next generation of creative leaders. Like so many of the best children’s products, Green Kid Crafts is a mother’s invention, created by a working mom and environmental scientist whose personal experiences taught her how important it is for children to exercise creativity, develop a love of discovery, and learn about the world around them.
At Green Kid Crafts, our STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) subscriptions create those opportunities, and certainly spark the imagination! Our products deliver discovery, learning and fun to children ages 2-10+, and we’ve also built a wonderful community of parents, grandparents and educators that share our vision. All together, we have built a business that we are incredibly proud of. Our program has won a variety of awards including Dr. Toy’s Best Green Products, Academics’ Choice Brain Toy Award, Red Tricycle’s Award for Most Awesome Subscription Service and many more.
We hope that you’ll try our products and enjoy the monthly adventures with your kids. We’re passionate about our company and its mission and would love to hear any feedback and suggestions you may have for us. Please send an email to: [email protected].
Thanks so much for your support!
The Green Kid Crafts Team
What is a Green Company?
We believe that a green company is one that not only strives for sustainability but takes a step beyond to try and create positive change. As a company founded by an environmental scientist, it’s only natural that Green Kid Crafts is committed to ensuring that all of our activities, from product to process, have as little an impact on the environment as possible. Further, we view our work as a way to foster the next generation of environmental stewards by engaging kids with nature in positive, creative ways.
We design our Discovery Boxes to create a better childhood for children and encourage them to lead the way to a better world. For the health, safety, and happiness of all kids, we believe all companies should go green for kids. We offset 100% of the carbon dioxide generated by our business and help fund the development of renewable energy projects across the US.
Our boxes are 100% recycled. We use recycled labels and envelopes for shipping.
We integrate eco-awareness into our box themes as much as possible.
We minimize packaging and printing and use recycled materials.
We bundle materials using plant-based, compostable clear bags.
We avoid craft foams and plastics.
We ensure supplies can be composted, recycled and/or reused
We give back. At least 1% of sales is donated to environmental
organizations through our membership in 1% for the Planet.
The Whole Child
Developed by teachers, crafty moms and STEAM experts (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) to support key developmental skills for kids ages 2-10+, our products celebrate creativity with craft projects and activate thinking, questioning, inquiring, and original creation as we guide children through fun science experiments. In an effort to encourage growth of the “whole child”, all of our kits are reviewed by our panel of experts to meet our Happy & Healthy Child criteria. This ensures that each time they engage with our products children will do the following:
Create something I’m proud of. Projects allow kids to be creative, build confidence and enjoy a sense of accomplishment as they produce crafts and conduct experiments they love, that are unique and special to them.
Move my body. Activities develop fine and/or gross motor skills and encourage active play.
Use my thinking brain. Completing our enriching crafts and STEAM experiments flexes kids’ sequencing, reasoning, and/or problem solving skills.
Discover the world around me. Our products give kids a wider view of their world, from either a nature-based, scientific, or cultural perspective.
Care for myself, others, and the planet. Discovery box themes and the kits inside also teach children to be considerate and respectful towards people and nature.
