Green Kid Crafts is empowering the next generation of environmental leaders using expertly curated STEAM activities in our science kits for kids. Founded by mother and environmental scientist Penny Bauder in 2010, Green Kid Crafts has sold over 1.5 million kids subscription boxes specially designed to help children exercise creativity, develop a love of discovery, and learn about the world around them.

What is STEAM learning?
STEAM learning takes the traditional tenets of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and adds an Arts component to the lessons. This added focus on art allows students to learn things in a more open-ended and less restrictive way and make them applicable to real life. Arts and creativity are crucial to the sciences, technology, engineering, and computer science. Arts are used in website and user interfaces design, advertising, product design and usability, branding and start-up creation among countless other uses, all things that are paramount to STEM learning and careers.

Are the boxes more art or science?
Good question, and the answer is: both!
Since our boxes have 4-6 activities each, and a 12-page magazine, and our online extra program, Kitchen Table STEAM, we are sure there will be something for every child in each theme.
Often the science activities for kids are designed to be exploratory. You might do it quickly with a younger toddler, and take more time and have more conversation with an older pre-schooler. The magazine is a 12-page guide that includes step by step instructions with pictures, and all the extra information you might want.
Can we try out a box before subscribing?
We offer 1-month subscription options, so you can try out Green Kid Crafts and just log into your account and cancel if you wish to not renew. We also have a number of single boxes available in our shop if you would rather try just one, that’s always an option too.
What’s the difference between a 1-month subscription and a single box? Our monthly boxes are made in bigger quantities, which mean they’re available at a consistently lower price ($29.95/box vs. $34.95/box). In addition, our monthly boxes come with extras – our new Kitchen Table STEAM program is where our team curates and compiles a number of extra learning opportunities for monthly subscribers. So for example, when the box theme was Ocean Science, our subscribers not only received their box, but also got to ask questions to an Oceanographer LIVE and got access to many additional videos, podcast episodes, and DIY at home science activities for kids to keep learning. Which plan is right for my family? Junior or Discovery?
With 10 years as a leading subscription box provider we’ve got something for every family!
Discovery boxes are designed for kids ages 5-10+ and encourage experimentation in science.
Junior boxes are designed for younger kids 3-5 with a little bit more craft than science.
With 4-6 STEAM projects in each box, and with our 12-page magazine to guide learning, kids of many ages can enjoy and learn something new from every box.
Most importantly, our customer care team can always help to switch a subscription, if for example you find you’re ready to move from Junior to Discovery or vice versa. Just drop us a quick email at [email protected] and we can always make adjustments to best suit your family.
