The Benefits of Green Crafts and Eco-Friendly Play

By November 7, 2012December 23rd, 2020No Comments

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been excitedly working with Amanda Morin from About.com Kids’ Learning Activities, one of the web’s best resources on education and development. Having received our Dinosaur Discovery Box and giving it a five star review, Amanda was working on a piece about creativity and wondered if we would be interested in contributing a companion article explaining the synergies between teaching kids about the environment and encouraging their creativity through green crafts. Our answer: “absolutely!”

We’ve found that so many people appreciate what we’re doing in regards to promoting sustainability, and love that our craft kits give parents a tool to model environmental awareness and compassion, but don’t realize that there are actually clear developmental benefits to marrying these ideas.

Please head over to About.com to read our post and learn more about the role of “eco” in crafting and find tips on promoting eco-minded creativity.  We’ve also included a great, green project that will connect your child to the natural world as they have fun and use their creativity.

Why do you believe that crafts should be green? Let us know in the comments.
