Chinese New Year Craft: Homemade Drum

Kids will have a blast making a homemade Chinese Drum! This simple guide includes all of the step-by-step instructions and materials you need.

Supplies:

Two paper plates, glitter/paint, construction paper, (2) 7-8inch ribbons, glue or glue gun, popsicle stick, beads, and a hole punch.

Step 1: Glue popsicle stick to the inside of one plate. Adult supervision needed if a child is using a glue gun

Step 2: put glue around the rim of the plate and add a second paper plate on top.

Step 3: cut a large circle out of construction paper and glue it to the outside of the drum/plate.

Step 4: decorate the drum – try to duplicate Chinese characters if you can!

Step 5: tie beads to one end of both ribbons

Step 6: punch holes on the side of the drum and tie one ribbon to each hole.

Now it will make a great drumming sound!
