Pumpkin craft for preschoolers and toddlers. Coffee filter craft for kids.

When it comes to Fall, we do it big. I have always liked fall, even as a child. Everything from carving pumpkins to decorating the house in pumpkins and leaves. It’s crisp and cool outside, the smell of cookies baking in the oven and don’t forget about delicious seasonal coffee! Lucky for me, my daughter has acquired my love for this glorious season. It doesn’t take too much convincing to have her do fall inspired crafts with me. Especially easy ones like this Coffee Filter Pumpkin Craft.

It was so incredibly simple to make, we made more than one to give to neighbors and family. She loves making and giving gifts, and even something as simple as this – the recipients faces light up with joy. It truley is the simple things, right?

Supplies Needed

  • Coffee Filter
  • Water Color Paint Set
  • Cup of Water
  • Paint Brush
  • Green Construction Paper
  • Glue

How We Made It

We started out by dipping our paint brushes in water and then in the orange water color paint. This isn’t anything fancy, just the simple children’s water color paint set. It was perfect for this craft.

We painted the designs on the coffee filters. Mostly we used orange, but in some spots we added some red or yellow to give it depth and texture.

You could even do black faces and create jack-o-lanterns if you wanted.

After each coffee filter was painted we set it aside to dry. As long as it wasn’t completely saturated in water/paint it didn’t take long at all to dry. Maybe not even more than 5 minutes.

As it was drying, I cut out the shape of a pumpkin stem from green construction paper. This was easy because it is just like a curved rectangle with an angle on one end. The detail of this doesn’t much matter.

We glued this on the top and we were done. You could add a vine and leaves too if you’re feeling extra fancy.

Like I said, we gave many of them away. Grandparents, neighbors and my daughter’s aunt were so excited to receive such a fun and festive gift. The ones that we kept, we hung on the window. It added such a fun touch that barely cost any money at all. Plus it was special that my daughter made it.
