Valentine’s Conversation Heart Squish Bag Science
This conversation heart squish bag science project is a mess-free, quick to conduct the sensory activity for your little one that makes for a good conversation about colors. Do you have a bag of conversation hearts laying around to use?
Use up sweet treats and conduct a sensory experiment at the same time. See what happens when you leave conversation hearts in a bag of hair gel – you may be surprised at the result!
Supplies
A gallon size bag
Tape (to tape over the top of the bag once closed, if desired)
Clear hair gel
A Sharpie marker
Instructions
Use the Sharpie to make a heart on the outside of the bag.
Fill the bag with conversation hearts. This is a great motor skill activity for little hands!
Fill the bag with half a bottle of clear hair gel.
Close bag, seal well with tape. We recommend the adults do the sealing…
Now it’s time to let little hands just squish those candies around.
My little boy moved them allll around. Within a few short hours, the candy began to dissolve.
We allowed the bag to sit a few days to see what happened.
By day three, the candy had all but dissolved and colors mixed inside the bag. It was a fun activity to “squish” around and my preschooler was able to name all the colors he saw in the bag. Win!
Let us know how your conversation heart squish bag science experiment turns out when you try it out with your little ones!
