Science themed parties are really popular for grade-school kids and a yummy treat like these mad scientist eyeball cake pops are sure to be a hit! While there may be a long list of steps for making these science-themed party favors, they really are easy to make in an hour or two. If you’ll be using them as favors be sure to get clear treat bags with ties and to store them in the refrigerator until they’re ready to go home with your party guests.

Ingredients

  • A box of cake mix (and ingredients to make the cake)
  • 1 Bag of white chocolate candy melts for baking
  • 1 Bag of green candy melts for baking
  • Vegetable oil
  • Icing/frosting

Supplies

  • Cake pop sticks

Directions

1. Make cake via directions on box

2. Let cake completely cool and then put it in a bowl, removing the outer layer of cake.

3. Crumble cake until it’s in very fine pieces

4. Put a very small amount of frosting in the cake and mix together. You want the cake to be moist to stick together. If using a super moist cake mix you will not need more then a small spoonful of icing. Start with less, you can always add more!

4. Make small balls out of cake mix and refrigerate for several hours

5. Microwave white candy melts by following directions on packaging.

6. Take the sticks and dip in chocolate and then put in cake ball…..this helps the stick to stay in place.

7. Add vegetable oil to the chocolate to thin it out, you don’t want the chocolate to be too thick. Dip the cake balls into the chocolate and coat the entire thing and then place back on plate.

8. Once chocolate is almost dry (anywhere from a minute to 10 minutes….the more vegetable oil the longer it will take) place blue candy melts on for the eye color.

9. Use black icing color to make black pupils on eyes. Or you can use a black pen marker designed to write on icing or cakes.
