Kitchen Science: Glitter Christmas Slime Recipe
We’re mixing up some festive Christmas slime full of glitter! Slime makes a great sensory play tool for kids of all ages plus they love mixing the ingredients together. The ingredients for slime start off as appearing as a liquid but once the chemicals in the glue react to those in the contact solution they form slime. The texture is smooth and pliable and can be kept for weeks in an airtight container.
Supplies
- 1/2 Tablespoon of baking soda
- 6oz of Clear glue (or white glue)
- 1 1/2 Tablespoon contact solution
- Glitter in holiday colors
Directions
Pour the glue into a bowl.
Mix in the glitter.
Add the baking soda and stir.
Pour in the contact solution and mix the ingredients together to make slime. To get a good consistency stir the ingredients until a ball forms and then knead the slime with your hands.
My kids and their friends love playing with slime but it can get messy. Here are some tips for keeping your slime making zone (almost) mess-free:
- Store all slime ingredients in a plastic tub
- Use inexpensive bowls or plastic cups and wooden craft sticks to mix the slime
- Store slime in sealed plastic containers or Ziploc bags in a plastic bin.
- Do not make or play with the slime in areas where slime ingredients may spill on carpet or upholstery.
