Bats are such interesting animals! Being nocturnal we often associate them with spooky fall nights but are bats really that scary? Bats can be fascinating!

- Bats help control the insect population and some even work as pollinators
- There are over 1000 species of bats and only 3 of them live off the blood of other animals
- Bat wings aren’t just for flying, they also hold food such as fruit while bats eat!
Bats aren’t as spooky as they seem! Today we’re making cute bats from popsicle sticks. This is a fun bat craft for preschoolers and grade-school children. Hang your bats from black yarn to make them “fly.”
Supplies
- 3 Wooden Craft Sticks (popsicle sticks)
- Black Paint
- Wiggle Eyes
- Glue
- Black Yarn (optional)
Popsicle Stick Bat Craft Directions
- Place two craft sticks on a flat surface in a sideways “X” and glue where the two sticks meet. Place another popsicle stick horizontally on top of the first two sticks, and glue where the sticks meet at the center.
2. Once the glue dries paint the sticks black and let the paint dry.
3. Glue wiggle eyes on the center where the sticks meet. If you’re hanging your bats with yarn wrap the end of the yarn around the center of the sticks and tie a knot to secure.
