The Coronavirus pandemic has led us to a whole new form of ‘back-to-school’ season. We may no longer be at the beginning of this challenge, but it’s quite evident that we’re still far from the end.
What we know, for sure, is that we should take all the necessary precautions to save our kids from the contagious disease. And that includes the mandatory use of facial masks whenever they go out of the house. Good thing, there’s a fun way to introduce facial masks to the kids!
Mask Self-Portrait Art Project
Since masks are becoming part of their day-to-day activities, an art teacher from Tennessee school district, Cassie Stephens, introduced this brilliant mask self-portrait art project.

Teacher Cassie created this brilliant art project for her students’ first back-to-school project, and Green Kid Crafts think that this should be shared with all other parents and teachers out there. They can copy the full activity, or design similar projects for their students.
Materials:
Let your students prepare some papers, marker or crayon, and a bright, positive attitude about mask-wearing.

Goal:
The goal is to incorporate into children the role of masks as we enter our society’s new normal phase. It also reveals to the kids that behind those masks are fascinating persons like them. That’s why it important to build a positive attitude when creating this MAD-magazine style ‘lift-the-flap’ mask self-portrait art project.
Not everyone loves the idea of wearing masks, but you can put a positive spin on it with this brilliant mask self-portrait art project!
brilliant idea – something welcoming for back to face to face interaction at school. Kids of all ages should love this, and it is a great way to introduce yourself to your new class.
