Pretzel Pops Recipe

Making pretzel pops is an easy way to get kids in the kitchen cooking and creating. I’m sharing a fun endangered animals-themed recipe today that makes a great addition to an endangered animals unit study. Older kids can make these themselves while younger kids will enjoy assisting you as they make their own animal-themed snacks.

Supplies

  • Black and Orange Fondant
  • Edible Eyeball Candies
  • Orange and White Candy Melts
  • Pretzel Rods
  • Shredded Coconut

Directions

  1. Place the candy melts in microwave-safe bowls and heat them up until melted. Stop the microwave and stir occasionally. It should only take 20-30 seconds for them to melt.
  2. Spoon the melted candy over 2/3 of the pretzel rod. If you’re making the tiger you’ll use the orange candy, if you’re making the polar bear use the white candy.
  3. To make the polar bear pour coconut on a plate and roll the warm candy-covered pretzel over the coconut until the candy is covered. Stick the candy eyeballs on while the melted candy is still warm.
  4. To make the tiger add the eyes while the candy is still warm then let cool.
  5. When the pretzel pops have cooled add fondant noses and mouths to the animals. If you’re making a tiger use the fondant to add stripes to the tiger.
